Digital Goods Disclosure and Licensing Policy
Overview of the New California Digital Goods Disclosure Law
Effective Date: January 1, 2025
To ensure compliance with California's new law, AB-2426 Consumer Protection: False Advertising: Digital Goods, we are committed to providing transparent and clear information regarding the purchase and licensing of digital goods. This policy applies to all digital course materials offered by eCampus.com and its associated brands.
Licensing Information
When you purchase a digital product, you are acquiring a license for a specified period. Details about the duration and terms of each license are provided in the product description.
License Duration:
- The duration of access is clearly outlined in the product description. Products labeled as "Lifetime" generally mean five (5) years of online access, along with the ability to download the product to a compatible device.
- Non-Transferable Licenses: Licenses cannot be transferred or assigned to another person. The purchase grants you access rights, but ownership of the content remains with the original publisher or creator.
Understanding "Lifetime" Licenses
A "Lifetime" license offers the following features:
- Online Access: Typically allows access to the product for five (5) years through our platform.
- Downloads: Permits permanent downloads to supported devices.
- Support and Compatibility: Downloaded files are supported as long as the device or platform is compatible with eCampus.com at the time of download.
License Activation: Once a purchase is made or an access code is redeemed, your account is linked to a digital license. This license specifies terms, permissions, and duration, ensuring integration with supported devices and platforms.
Downloads and Device Compatibility
You can download digital products to supported devices, which include the two most recent operating system versions.
Important Note:
- Downloads will function as long as eCampus.com continues to support the device or operating system. If future updates or technological changes render a device or system incompatible, previously downloaded products may no longer work as intended.
Access Codes and Third-Party Products
Some products, such as access codes or bundles that include eBooks and codes, are provided through third-party vendors. Additional details about these products can be found on the provider's website.
Key Points:
- Third-Party Management: Licensing terms, duration, and technical specifications for these products are managed by the third-party provider.
- Ongoing Support: While eCampus.com facilitates purchases, future access and support are the responsibility of the provider.
